About Me

I am a crazy woman, funny and carefree but type A and anal all at the same time. I have two daughters and a Father who's a King...what more do I need?! My goal on this planet is to help His bride: literally (I plan weddings for a living!) and spiritually (I occasionally offer words of wisdom to loved ones...) Bless us all on this journey!

Feb 14 and the (Christian) Single Girl

Alas, the dreaded Valentine's Day has arrived. Besides being somewhat sick with a cold, I am going to the school to do not one but two kiddo parties this morning. Then they're coming home for a 4 day weekend, which I would be excited about sans the aforementioned cold. Instead it makes me tired. What perked me up somewhat was a list of "anti-love" songs I just read online, CRACKED ME UP. On the list were favorites like Def Leppards "Love Bites," and of course Alanis Morrisett's "You Oughtta know" (the one where she says "When I scratch my nails down someone else's back I hope you feel it." Dude). But the #1, all time classic was (you're gonna laugh just thinking about the movie scene) Adam Sandler in the wedding singer, drunk and tired and sad after Linda has dumped him, singing "And when I think of you Linda, I hope you ------- choke... somebody kill me please, somebody kill me please...somebody please, pretty pretty please, killl meeeee, I want to dieeee...put a bullet in my headdddddddddd..." And John Lovitz standing like a stalker disco boy behind the curtain, watching. What genius:)

Every year when Valentine's Day arrived, I would make the silent wish that the next year I would have someone special to share it with.......most of the time it never worked out that way! What is it with girls and Valentine's Day anyway? Now I am very happily married and Valentine's day is still nothing special.........my hubby is of the school of thought that he doesn't want to celebrate Hallmark holidays.........I sort of understand......but all those years of looking forward to celebrating Valentine's Day...........but I am so not complaining, I know I have been blessed! I hope you have a very special day and weekend with your beautiful girls (despite your cold)! I am just going to pray that one of these days you get swept off your feet in a major way! You are just such a beautiful, smart, funny lady and I cannot wait to see what God has for you! Hope this post is encouraging, it is always risky for a married girl to try to encourage a single girl....I had many years of well meaning friends tell me similar things! But above all I know God is faithful! Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh, yes and that wedding singer memory did make me crack up! So funny, sad, and pathetic all at the same time!

thanks liz! i'm totally fine spending holidays with my kiddos, regardless of whether they're "couples" holidays or not. we have fun being girly together. it really is better when i don't feel like my head's ready to explode:) AND... i have a single mommy girlfriend today who needed help with her car, so we spent several hours together today removing her CAR BATTERY. who says THAT'S not a good valentines' day?!

Yeah, listening to you talk about your girls REALLY make me want daughters of my own to do girly stuff with! I do have to say that it is impressive that two gals worked on the car battery themselves! I am so unmechanical that I would be in real trouble if I had to do something like that!
